I enrolled in the Summer Card Camp with Online Card Classes and yesterday was the first day. I made this card after learning these techniques from Jennifer McGuire. Jennifer taught how to “pop up” word die sentiments and use sentiments in your background stamping. I have three word dies from Elizabeth Crafts and only used them a few times. They sort of get lost on the card and you can’t really pop them up because they are too intricate. Well Jennifer taught how to layer the word several times on white card stock to make them pop. I used Gina K heavyweight cardstock and cut it out three times in addition to the original cut. The flower cuts are from My Favorite Things.
Also taught was how to make a banner front flap as your card front but because the card has to travel for Operation Write Home I chose not to do that but used the idea as the card front.
Out of my comfort zone on this card — the colors; but I used them all. I made several mistakes but was able to cover them up using the flowers. I think it may be a little too busy but I walked away and came back to it and it is growing on me.
It only took me 24 hours (not really — you know all the interruptions) and about six pieces of white card stock to get it to a point I felt was OK. This is a technique I will use often I am sure but also have to practice to perfect. Actually the part I thought would be the hardest – the die cut of the sentiment several times and gluing it all together – was the easiest. I think it was because I used the heavyweight cardstock.

Hi, I’m in the card class too, and also used an Elizabeth Craft die for my “birthday”. I cut it out six times and stuck it together. I used a HOTP die for the “Happy”, and it was larger, so I just layered it three times. I love this technique! Love your card!
