My Favorite Things

Mail It Monday Challenge #3

One of my many goals this year is to step out of my comfort zone and join in some challenges and overcome my perfection obsession. Mail It Monday is over on Small Talk Mama’s blog. Her blog is unique in that it isn’t dedicated to just card making or crafts. It’s about life. I found it by commenting on one of her cards she made for OWH. I joined in Words2ScrapBy challenges because they were fellow card makers for OWH  – I was led to join in this one as well for the same reason.

Each Monday the challenge encourages you to create a new card based on provided themes, sketches, holidays, colors, etc. Once you’ve created your card and posted it, you are encouraged to actually write a note to someone special, plop a stamp on it and send it on it’s way.

I am off to the Post Office today with my box of 175 cards to ship off to OWH and the card I made for Mail It Monday Challenge #3 (based on the sketch provided) is an ANY HERO card to include in my box.

Mail-it-Monday-ChallengeI used a My Favorite Things stencil, versa mark and fine silver embossing powder for the base of the card. I used My Favorite Things stars stencil for the next layer, left the stencil in the die and used Memento Summer Sky ink around the edges to make it look like there is a mat. I used My Favorite Things Flags die for the next layer cut out in blue. Continuing on with the star theme I cut out a circle and then a matting circle (sponged with Aegean Blue Versa Magic) using Spellbinders Circle dies. The sentiment is from Stampin Up as well as the die cut.

Well thanks for stopping by and I encourage you to support our fellow card makers in their challenges. It is so much fun and you meet the greatest people in the world.

  1. What a cute card — it’s just so festive. I love the colors and texture! Thanks so much for playing along at Mail It Monday and I hope you’ll continue to join us (and tell all your friends).

  2. Such a cute Any Hero card. I love the embossed stars!

And WOW! 175 cards to OWH! That’s wonderful! I just found OWH not too long ago so I haven’t sent any in yet but I am working on a stockpile. Thanks for being an inspiration!
