Cards In Envy’s Challenge this month is Inspired By A Song. I am a Beatles girl. I mean I was one of those screaming young girls when they came to the United States back in the 60’s. When I was in sixth grade one of my friends had a Beatles inspired birthday sleepover and all we did the entire night was talk about John, Paul, George and Ringo. The White Album came out in 1968 and was quite the hit. There was one song on it called Rocky Raccoon. It’s one of those silly songs that when you hear it, it plays over and over in your mind. You can check out the lyrics here.
I purchased GinaK Designs Autumn Wishes Stamptv Kit and in it one of the stamps is a raccoon. As soon as I stamped the image, the song Rocky Raccoon started playing in my head. So the inspiration for my card.
I was NOT going to jump on the shaker card bandwagon. Guess what? I am hooked or should I say shaken? The cards are fun and easy to make with the fuse tool. You don’t have to worry about the shaker materials coming out or the card falling apart.
So Rocky was stamped and colored with Copics, cut out with the matching die and mounted on foam. To make the two leaves I first stamped one of the trees onto white cardstock using Memento Peanut Brittle and Memento Tangelo then I die cut them with the cute leaf that comes in the kit. The papers and sentiment are from the kit as well. I used a woodgrain background stamp for the card layer.
Thanks for stopping by.
Anne, Look at you with another shaker card! Adorable! Thanks so much for joining us at Cards in Envy. 🙂
I dare not even listen to that song as it will be in my head for the rest of the day! Love your card with the cute raccoon and the shaker bits! Thanks for sharing with us at Cards in Envy!
I would love to know how you got into digital scrapbooking. I tell you I am fairly good with computers but have never been able to catch on, despite taking classes in the subject. I guess I’m destined to be a paper crafter. Now, on to your card. Hooray for the Beetles! Great choice and glad you dipped into the shaker bandwagon. I went kicking and screaming on that front too. Thanks for sharing this with us at Cards in Envy and we look forward to more of your designs. Take care.
I joined the National Association of Digital Scrapbookers and use Photoshop Elements. I learned almost everything I know from them. I have never printed out any of my pages, I just use it to view pages in a slideshow on my computer. Thanks for all your kind comments on my card.
