I am continuing making cards for a local church for the Pastor to send Mother’s Day cards to single moms of the congregation. The inside of the card is stamped Thinking of You, Happy Mother’s Day.
Using Versamark the background was stamped using Lacy Background from MFT and heat embossed using white fine detail embossing powder. Tim Holtz Distress inks were used to sponge creating a watercolor effect. Using an oval die the shape was cut into the center of the background panel (saved the cut piece for another project). Then using the Psalm 19:14 from Verve Stamps I stamped it onto heavy weight vellum, again using Versamark – this time heat embossed using silver fine detail powder. I cut the stamped vellum piece using the next oval size up (so I could adhere it onto the panel). I then spritzed the panel using ink sprays. Using watercolor cardstock, the butterflies were created with a Hero Arts stamp and die set (which I have had forever, but is one of my very favorites) and water colored with Distress Inks. The next one I make I will turn that bottom butterfly in the other direction. No foam was used to elevate the butterflies, but because the vellum sits behind the panel it makes the butterflies appear to be lifted.
I am linking this up at Live Love Cards for the April Challenge (butterflies).
How wonderful to be making Mother’s day cards for such deserving folks! I know whoever receives this card will feel very special! The butterflies look so pretty with that great background!
Anne, Finally managed to find your blog… and I’m so glad I did. This is stunning! Love how you used that vellum. And, thanks so much for the kind words you’ve been leaving when visiting my blog. 🙂
This card is not only beautiful, it’s going to a worthy cause, so it’s a win-win situation! The background is gorgeous!
Very special card!
