Over on Stinkin Inkers challenge the theme for January 2021 (Happy New Year!) is to “Make It Hot”, use images of coffee, hot chocolate, hot tea, etc. Here is my take:
All of the products I used are from January 2019 Scrapping For Less Flavor of the Month Kit. I used Copic Markers to color the image.
Don’t forget to stop over to the challenge and join in on the phone. You have the whole month of January to participate.
I purchased a Scan N Cut2 a few years ago. My main goal was to save money and space by not having to buy dies. I have learned so many things that I can create, and with the world of svg files out there, the sky is the limit. I can do so much with the machine.
There are three sites that have helped me learn the Scan N Cut, The Papered Chef, Alanda Crafts and Jennifer Brodie (search for ScanNCut, DesignNCut, CanvasWorkspace, Tips and Materials with Jennifer).
Here is my box:
Here is how it opens:
I used a FREE cut file from Dreaming Tree. There are so many possibilities with this triangular shaped box. You can use it for any occasion and it is so easy to put together (especially with the step by step you tube videos). Use other themed papers, cardstock and stamped images to customize it to fit any occasion.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the challenge.
During this quarantined time with the Pandemic I have been using my free time to practice and learn how to use my Scan N Cut. I have learned over these last 60+ days is that you really have to get to know your machine and how it works. It is not a plug and go machine as I believe all cutting machines are. There are several bloggers who I have followed to help me with this (go to this post to find out). One of my frustrations is not so much cutting out the file but how to put it together once it is cut out.
This month the theme over at Stinkin Inkers is to create a Gift Card Holder. The card I created was a free SVG file over at Dreaming Tree.
\
As you can see this is a wallet (file comes with an envelope also). It is hard to create unique cards, etc. for the guys. This is so perfect. You can use it for any occasion. There is a slot for cash, gift card and sentiment. If you are giving a gift card you can use the bill holder for a message, if you are giving cash (graduate) you can use the other slots for messages, etc. You don’t have to use all the elements.
I have had my Scan N Cut2 for a few years. The reason I purchased the Scan N Cut was to use it to cut out my stamped images. I just cannot justify buying those matching die cuts. It has served me well. The price I paid for the Scan n Cut2 has far surpassed the amount of money I saved that I would have spent on matching dies.
There are so many crafters who abhor their Scan N Cut, leave it in the box, never use it, etc. But I feel they don’t give it the time they need to learn it. If you want to invest in it you must also KNOW that it involves commitment. It is not a plug in and go tool. You have to have the resolve to learn it. And there are so very many wonderful crafters out there that you can learn from. Here are my top three who I refer to over and over again. They explain things that I can understand.
I am spending lots of time in my craft room and I am finding so many things that have gone by the wayside. Today I found a box of “Outline Stickers” which I haven’t used in quite some time.
I love outline stickers and used the negative space of this sticker (Elizabeth Craft Designs) to create the focal point of my card. I used transfer tape to take off the negative space and applied it to an embossed piece of cardstock (Cuttlebug Embossing Folder no longer available). The additional stickers are all outline stickers. Loved how this card came together with all supplies in my stash.
Sheri Baldy who is an artist and has wonderful images on etsy ( Sheri Baldy Art ) had offered the image and sentiment on my card today for free (it was a one day deal). I took advantage of it because it is so appropriate for this time. Here is my card.
I printed the image on Copic Friendly paper and colored the image with both Copics and Prisma Colored Pencils. Everything else was in my stash.
I would like to participate in the following challenges:
I don’t know what it is about Dollar Tree but I can never walk out of this store empty handed because “It’s only a dollar” (as my cart has about 20 things in it).
I recently picked up a few of their sticker packs and here are three quick cards I created with things in my stash.
For this first card, I had the dot background in my card base stash already to go. I created it by using distress oxide inks and a dot stencil. I cut the circle die from papers in my stash. I then played around placing the stickers where I thought they would look good. I used a Happy Birthday Outline Sticker (huge fan of outline stickers). I placed the panel on black card stock and adhered that to a white card base.
For the second card I had the card base completed in my card base stash. I thought a frame around the toucan would make it stand out. The sticker is 3D so I didn’t have to do anything but adhere it to the card. I added the 3D balloon to look like it was coming from the parrot’s wing (hand). I added the three stars (from my stash), and again used a Happy Birthday Outline Sticker.
Again I found another card base in my stash which was made from the Stamps of Life birthday papers, die cut the yellow circle from card stock, added the bird (not sure if he is a toucan or not). I added the Birthday Hat from another Dollar Tree Sticker Pack and added the balloons as well. Again, used a Happy Birthday Outline Sticker.
I am a shipper for Send A Smile 4 Kids and these cards will be going to them.
I am always looking for people and places to send cards. If you are an organization or hospital visiting this blog, and think that our program could help you, please contact me and I can give you more information.
If you are a card maker and feel that you have way too many cards, I can help you spread the joy to worthy causes. Please contact me.
Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by and be blessed.
The current challenge over on the Send A Smile 4 Kids Blog is for Spring Cards. The challenges are also always Anything Goes. I am a shipper for Send A Smile 4 Kids. Here is my card.
I used an MFT Dienamics to cut out the frame and added the egg and jelly bean stickers, and the sentiment.
This card will be going to one of the hospitals I ship to for SAS4KIDS.
If you have cards you made and don’t know where to send them please check out my “All About Me” page and feel free to contact me.
This month’s challenge over at Stinkin Inkers is to use Embossing Folders. Here is my card:
I have recently joined a Facebook Group called the Card Kindness Project. I really like this new Facebook Group because it encourages you to send out cards to develop relationships with like minded card makers. If you think this Group is for you check them out and let them know I sent you.
For those of you who know me already, my blog says it all — cards and kindness. I have shipped thousands of cards to Children’s Hospitals, Veterans Homes, Soldiers, and Seniors. I am so busy receiving and mailing out cards to the organizations that I rarely have time to blog but you will be seeing more from me.
Needless to say this card will be going to someone in the Card Kindness Project.
If you have cards you made and don’t know where to send them please check out my “All About Me” page and feel free to contact me.
