Up In The Air

Our oldest son lives in a rural area and close to a little airport that offers hot air balloon rides (no thank you). When we visit when it is getting closer to sunset we like to sit out on his deck and watch the hot air balloons. They are so beautiful and peaceful to look at.

Tuesday Throwdown‘s current challenge is Up In The Air. Here is my card.

I used an outline sticker from Krazy Kreations adhered it to glittered cardstock (SSS) and colored it with copic markers. Sometimes the sticker doesn’t adhere very well but I add the smallest amount of glue to help it along. Then I fussy cut it out. The cloud paper was from my stash and I ran it through the cuttlebug using the birthday embossing folder (my favorite). The critters are from Your Next Stamp and the grass is a stamp from Stamps by Judith.

I am a shipper for Send A Smile 4 Kids and this will be going to them.

Tuesday Throwdown #405 Sketch

Over at Tuesday Throwdown the challenge this week is to use the posted sketch to make a card. I have been trying to use watercolors (when I think or say the word watercolor my mind thinks mess).  I am a very messy card maker.

For this card I stamped the Stamps by Judith cupcake onto watercolor cardstock and using Polished Jade and Fresh Lime Dylusions Shimmer Sprays watercolored the cupcake with Pentel Aquash water brushes.  I heat embossed the happy birthday sentiment in black. The sprinkles were dotted with the good old faithful Stickles.

This card will be going to Send A Smile 4 Kids.

Interactive Card

When I was a little girl I could swing on the swings for hours on end looking up into the sky and just day dream. I especially liked it when my younger siblings (I am one of seven, second oldest), found other things to do and I could be all by myself in the back yard on the “swings”.

The challenge this week over at Little Red Wagon is to make an interactive card. I must say that I have only made a few other than shaker cards. So I “challenged” (isn’t that what challenges are all about?) myself and made a slider.

For this card I used distress oxides to create the background. I used stamps, dies and the sentiment from My Monthly Hero. The slider element is from My Favorite Things. I propped up the branch on double thick foam tape, then attached the leaves – I wanted her to swing under the branch and leaves. I also propped up the little girl on the left.

This card will be shipping off to one of the hospitals for Send A Smile 4 Kids.

Trout

My husband loves to fish. In April when trout season opens that is the talk of the house. My youngest son talks of when his son (my grandson age 2) will go fishing with them. I have read many books while sitting along the banks of lakes throughout our country while my husband fishes.

The challenge over at Cardz 4 Guys is “relax”. I can’t think of anything better about relaxing for my husband but fishing. Over at The Male Room the challenge is birthday (to celebrate their 5th Birthday).

The trout image is part of a digital stamp set from Power Poppy. I colored the fish with Copics and the papers are from my stash. I created the sentiment from Holiday Frame Fillers (GinaK).

In addition to these two challenges I would like to participate in Tuesday Throwdown which is anything goes.

Have you heard the new song by King and Country called J O Y? It plays on the radio quite a bit and when I hear it I just want to dance and sing along. You can’t help but feel joyful when you hear it. Here are a few of the lyrics:

So for my card today I found an appropriate stamp that I picked up at Michael’s a few years ago.

I used the sketch over at Sunday Stamp Challenges for my design. I cut out two frames using SSS Rectangles and used one of the centers to stamp my images on. I made a small bow to soften it up a little and the papers are from Melissa Frances called 5th Avenue.

Down The Shore

In the Philadelphia area when you want to go to the beach you head “Down the Shore”. I used the adorable Paper Nest Dolls digi “Beach Ball Emma” and created a scene using the My Monthly Hero June Kit (sold out).

I just love the sand embossing powder that came with the kit and used it for the Hello greeting and footprints. I created the beach using Copic markers. Emma was colored with Copics and I added the sea shell adornment in Emma’s hair which came with the MMH kit.

This card is shipping off to Send A Smile 4 Kids – I am a shipper and ship to four different hospitals.

Tuesday Throwdown Heatwave

The current challenge over on Tuesday Throwdown is “Heatwave-Use Hot Colors”. For this card I used a digi I won from Kittie Bee Designs on Tuesday Throwdown’s challenge in June called Birthday Emilee – also available in clear stamp form.

The Cuttlebug Happy Birthday Embossing Folder in my opinion is a must have. I am not even sure if they carry it any longer but it was my very first ef. I paper pieced Ellie with the same polka dotted paper I used on one of the flags (to coordinate). I colored the rest of her with Copics and the cupcake is colored with another one of my favorite (markers) Zig Wink of Stella glitter markers. When making cards for the hospitals I ship to glitter is frowned upon. So to add sparkle without it coming off these markers work great. The papers are from Hampton Arts (old).

I would also like to participate in the Seize the Birthday challenge. I made stripes using the thin flags.

This “happy” card will shipping off to one of the hospitals for Send A Smile 4 Kids.

Thinking of You – Blue Distress – Sketch

This week’s challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is You’re On My Mind. The current challenge at Cards in Envy is Feeling Blue and Distressed. Using the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches, I created this card and would like to participate in all three challenges.

About my card. First I have to tell you that I dislike step stamping. I keep trying it and I still dislike it. This month’s kit from My Monthly Hero (sold out) had these waves in it (3 step stamping) and I have to tell you I still had trouble. I had to ink them up several times to get good coverage. I used MMH  ink included in the kit, MFT inks and my favorite inks Memento. I used distress inks on these images because that is the challenge at Cards In Envy. The kit came with dies BUT did not come with a die for the sailboats (another big disappointment). I used my Scan N Cut to cut them out. There are clouds with step stamping as well. I will probably be selling this set shortly because I really don’t care for all that little stamping and it reminds me of the silhouette stamps from the previous month’s kit. Sorry for the rant.

The papers are from Seaside collection from AC Moore, the Washi Tape is from my stash. The sentiment is also from the kit.

Santa Baby

I am very familiar with Christmas babies.  My husband’s birthday is Christmas Day and my nephew was born on December 23rd. This month’s challenge over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge is Santa.  One of the hospitals I ship to for Send A Smile 4 Kids requests Welcome and Congratulations Baby cards. So why not a Santa Baby? Here is the card I created.

The image is a digi from Tiddly Inks colored with Copics and I used puffy fabric paint on the hat and the tips of the shoes. The paper and stickers are from my stash, the sentiment is a Hero Arts rubber stamp embossed with fine detail white embossing powder. I used some washi tape and ribbon from my stash and blinged it up with some stickles.

Tuesday Throwdown Tag

Tuesday Throwdown’s Challenge this week is to make a tag. I won the Your Next Stamp prize for Tuesday Throwdown’s Challenge #386 (random.org) and I chose the Magical Unicorn and Die that I used to make my tag today. Here is the card.

The paper I used is from BasicGrey called Euphoria and the ribbon is from my stash. I colored the unicorn with Copics. I am a shipper for Send A Smile 4 Kids so this tag will be going to one of the hospitals I ship to. Two of the hospitals have school programs for the kids to attend while they are receiving long term care (makes me sad), so hopefully this will brighten up one of the kids spirits when they see the happy unicorn if they use it for a book mark.
