Card Making, Challenges, GinaK Designs

Youth

The challenge over at Word Art Wednesday is 1 Timothy 4:12. I chose the Message version on my card.

This is the first card where I used my own handwriting (with the help of the  Chatter Box Journaling Genie #2 – Shape). I usually generate sentiments, verses, words on the computer. The image is from Sassy Cheryl’s, I don’t know where I got the papers and the cardstock is GinaK.

Birthday Balloons

I recently purchased a Mama Elephant stamp and die set at Joann’s. As many of you know I am a shipper and card maker for Send A Smile 4 Kids, so whenever I see cute stamps for kids (especially if they are on sale) I just have to purchase them. Here is the very simple Birthday Card I made for one of the kids.

This set is called Up We Go, I stamped the images directly on the front of the card and colored with copics (if you use GinaK heavy base weight cardstock the copics do not bleed through to the other side). I added the heart from another stamp set.

I would like to promote and enter this card into the following challenges:
Cards In Envy – Easy as 1,2,3
Use Your Stuff – Challenge 280 Pets
Seize the Birthday – Balloons
Word Art Wednesday – Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Tuesday!

Birthday Buddy #3

On the side bar I list that I am a member of Live Love Cards. I have been for about 2 years. I learn so much from everyone in this card community. This year they started a birthday club. When you sign up you are sent a list of everyone that has a birthday in the same month as yours. This card was made for Charlene who lives in Arizona.

All products used are from GinaK Designs except for the ribbon and enamel dots which were in my stash.

Happy Birthday Charlene.

Welcome September

Happy September! September is the most wonderful time of the year. End of summer, back to school, goodbye heat, hello changing and falling leaves. We have so many birthdays in September (including mine). I made this birthday card for someone on my list.

The sentiment and step up die are from Stamps of Life. The characters and flowers are from GinaK Designs, the ribbon was in my stash and the falling leaves were created using a punch.

Vitamin Sea

Vacations are like a reset button mentally, physically and spiritually. We all need them. I am lucky enough to live an hour and a half from the beach. I love the smell of the ocean. I do not enjoy lying on the beach and I will only sit on the beach if I have a chair. But I love walking along the shoreline finding shells or going on the jetties and looking for sea life. The beach and ocean have many therapeutic qualities. Check out this article – Vitamin “Sea”: The Therapeutic & Sensory Benefits of Sun, Sand & Surf found on Get Well Maps blog.

I made this card with no recipient in mind. Words 2 Craft By Challenge this month are words about vacation.

To create the weathered board I learned it here. I stamped the image (Stamplorations) and masked it off and used pan pastels to create the sky/water; the birds are from GinaK Designs. I created the port hole using circle dies and Dazzle jewel dots. The ship’s wheel is from MFT and the sentimet is also from Stamplorations.

Happy Birthday Jim

My brother’s birthday is coming up and he and his son recently took a cross country road trip. I remember when my husband and I drove to New Mexico for the Hot Air Balloon Festival ten years ago and saw all the farmland in the midwest. So I got out my very used Country Roads stamp set from GinaK Designs and made him this card:

Happy Birthday Jim!

Ladybugs

There are about 5,000 different species of ladybugs in the world. These much loved critters are also known as lady beetles or ladybird beetles. They come in many different colors and patterns, but the most familiar in North America is the seven-spotted ladybug, with its shiny, red-and-black body. In many cultures, ladybugs are considered good luck. Today’s Card:

Ladybug stamp from GinaK; greeting and ribbon Stamps of Life; Simply Charmed Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. The card will be going to Send A Smile 4 Kids.

Cards In Envy Square

The challenge over at Cards In Envy (CIE) is “Hip To Be Square” (if any of you are old enough, can you remember Huey Lewis and the News?).

My rose garden is blooming with the last roses and some of them are yellow. My marigolds, which only come in two colors gold and yellow, are just in their glorious stages right now. It is amazing when you plant one marigold plant in the spring and watch it for a few weeks, it looks as though it might not make it; but, as the air heats up and the afternoon rains come they grow into the most magnificent flowers. They will be rendering full colorful plants right up until Thanksgiving. Why am I rambling on about this? YELLOW. My take on the “Hip To Be Square” challenge:

cards-in-envy-squares-aug-2I embossed the square into my cardstock using two dies together (stitched square stacks from MFT), then stamped my image (GinaK Designs Year of Flowers 2) onto a separate square, colored with copics Y02 Y06 Y08 G21 and G24. The Happy Birthday greeting is from Your Next Stamp and ribbon from Stamps of Life. Mounted it on black cardstock.  Added a few black dots (to coordinate with ribbon) and called it a day.

YNS Challenge #46

I purchased stamps last month from Your Next Stamp (YNS). One of the sets is called Scribble Fun Set Two which caught my eye because I could use the stamps with  mixed media and Bible Journaling. When I received the set I was surprised how some of the stamps reminded me of flowers. So here is my card:

YNS-challenge-August-2016

The papers I used are from Stamps of Life and the ink is from My Favorite Things. I used the stem of the flower from a set from Stamplorations. Sentiment is from GinaK.

I am supporting and promoting the challenge over at YNS by entering this card. This challenge is a color or sketch challenge. I chose to do both.

As always thanks so much for stopping by.
