Coloring on Kraft

This is my first attempt at coloring on kraft cardstock with Copic Markers.

Coloring-on-KraftTo create the background I used an old stamp from MFT and stamped it onto the kraft cardstock. The flowers are from Autumn Wishes (GinaK Design StampTV Kit). I heat embossed with white embossing powder then I used Y35 Y38 Y08 and YR68 to color in the images. The sentiment is from Stamplorations and the ink is Memento Tangelo. Chocolate Brown Cardstock.

This will get added to by stash for fall birthdays coming up.

I would like to support/promote Colour Crazy craft challenge and Patti’s Creations which both are anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by.

Creative with Stamps #5 Geometric

Brand new challenge group for me Creative with Stamps. I stumbled upon this challenge group through the Stamplorations blog.

Creative-with-stamps-2The card is based on the old retiform technique. I cheated a bit. I made a stencil with acetate and the Geometric Abstract die plate from MFT. I used stamps from GinaK Designs. The frame is from SSS.

This card will be going to one of several friends who celebrate their birthday in the fall.

#PRAYFORPULSE

Dana Joy and her friend Tony have started a card drive for the survivors, family members and friends of the victims in Orlando. Here is the link to get you started. Thank you Dana and Tony for allowing us to use our cards to reach out to all those who mourn this horrible tragedy. Here are my first three cards. I will be making a few more over the weekend so I can mail them on Monday.

Birthday Covered Bridge

I have been fascinated with covered bridges since I saw my very first one back in the 70’s while camping with my husband and children. We have toured Bucks County as well as Lancaster County and have seen most of them. We have had many camping adventures and have seen covered bridges in Indiana, Ohio, New Brunswick, New Hampshire — these are places I can remember.

Our oldest son’s birthday is on Monday. He moved about an hour away from us two years ago, and at the end of their street is a covered bridge. I was so excited when he told me. So this is his birthday card this year.

Jack's-BirthdayThe stamp is from GinaK designs called Country Road, and colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards (I believe I purchased these somewhere in my travels across the USA). I used Spellbinders Card Creator Distressed Edges for layering onto MFT Paver Red Cardstock.

Background Stamping

My brother passed away the end of February and I have been wanting to send my sister in law a card. When I saw this on Melanie’s blog I knew I had to CASE it. I was inspired by this post to create the following card.

Patty-3I used Year of Flowers 2 stamp set from GinaK Designs, the sentiment is from MFT. I used the same stamp to create the background and the focal point. One tip I learned was to turn the stamp to mirror the image.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Smile Crocodile

This is week 2 for me as Guest Designer for the month of October at Dee Dee’s Digis. This handsome creature is from Dee Dees set called Smile Crocodile.

Week-2-101415He is printed out on GinaK cardstock (it is a top folding card). Then I prepared the cardstock so I could add the We R Memory Keepers acetate by using a MFT Basic Edges die cut. I also made the black edge strip by running that same die through twice (slightly apart), adhered it and added the dashes.  I sponged My Favorite Things Gumdrop Green all around him. The sentiment is also from the same set. I added the dashes and enamel dots.

I am a volunteer with SAS4Kids and this card will be going into a box of cards to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children (Philadelphia). Dee Dee also supports our efforts by sponsoring many of our challenges.

That’s it for this week. Thanks for stopping by and see you next week.

Masculine Birthday Cards

I have a hard time coming up with designs for masculine birthday cards (what did we ever do without Pinterest). My husband works for a Life Center for Seniors as a driver. The participants in the program can stay independent and remain in their home while the Center helps them get to doctors appointments, have meals and get assistance with whatever needs they have.

Recently, one of those participants had to go into a nursing home. Hubby brought home a letter from this gentleman’s son requesting they send him birthday cards. We all have good intentions and before we know it the date has passed and we never got around to sending that card. So I am whipping up 20 birthday cards for my husband to take into work, put them in the lunchroom with a sign and a box. All his coworkers have to do is write a little note of encouragement, wish this man a happy birthday  and place the card in the box. Hubby will bring them home and I can drop them off at the nursing home!

So coming up with different designs for masculine birthday cards was a challenge but once I had a few finished I was on a roll. Here is one of those cards. Yesterday’s card is included in the bunch as well.

Cards In Envy

Cards In Envy’s Challenge this month is Inspired By A Song. I am a Beatles girl. I mean I was one of those screaming young girls when they came to the United States back in the 60’s. When I was in sixth grade one of my friends had a Beatles inspired birthday sleepover and all we did the entire night was talk about John, Paul, George and Ringo. The White Album came out in 1968 and was quite the hit. There was one song on it called Rocky Raccoon. It’s one of those silly songs that when you hear it, it plays over and over in your mind. You can check out the lyrics here.

I purchased GinaK Designs Autumn Wishes Stamptv Kit and in it one of the stamps is a raccoon. As soon as I stamped the image, the song  Rocky Raccoon started playing in my head. So the inspiration for my card.

Cards In Envy

I was NOT going to jump on the shaker card bandwagon. Guess what? I am hooked or should I say shaken? The cards are fun and easy to make with the fuse tool. You don’t have to worry about the shaker materials coming out or the card falling apart.

So Rocky was stamped and colored with Copics, cut out with the matching die and mounted on foam. To make the two leaves I first stamped one of the trees onto white cardstock using Memento Peanut Brittle and Memento Tangelo then I die cut them with the cute leaf that comes in the kit. The papers and sentiment are from the kit as well. I used a woodgrain background stamp for the card layer.
