Live Love Cards

Live Love Cards has a new challenge this month — bottom heavy (leave white space at top). I have been a member of Live Love Cards for quite a few years and not only learn so much from Darlene but also from the other members. I can usually find what I am looking for in the Forum or searching for a particular technique, design or use of a certain product.

I am always challenged by Clean and Simple cards and this was even more challenging to keep the design on the bottom. I was inspired by last week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches (#339). Here is my card.

The floral papers are from my stash. Sentiment and flower die cuts (colored with Copics) are from Hero Arts.

In addition to Live Love Cards I would like to participate in the following challenges:

Crafting By DesignsAnything Goes
Little Red Wagon – A Rose By Any Other Name (flowers)

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Live Love Cards Sketch Challenge

I have been a member of Live Love Cards for quite a few years. I learn so much with every single video I watch by Darlene. I also have become friends with several members and we exchange cards. It is very economical to join – you can even check it out by trying it for one month.

Live Love Card challenge for May 2018 is a sketch. Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

The images and sentiment are from this month’s My Monthly Hero Kit (sold out). The background is a stencil that I embossed and then colored using a sponge dauber and three Ranger Oxide Distress Inks.

This card will be going to Send A Smile 4 Kids (I am a volunteer shipper and ship to four different hospitals).

Thanks for stopping by.

Challenges, Live Love Cards

New Birthday Buddy #4

On the side bar I list that I am a member of Live Love Cards. I have been for about 2 years. I learn so much from everyone in this card community. This year they started a birthday club. When you sign up you are sent a list of everyone that has a birthday in the same month as yours. This card is for Kathy who lives in Ohio.

Tuesday Throwdown’s Challenge this week is Birthday and their sponsor is Power Poppy, so I used this set to make the birthday card. I used this same set in the post here. I made the background on watecolor cardstock using the smooshing technique, embossed the cardstock. The image was embossed with fine detail embossing powder (white) and then sponged with ink. The greeting is from the same set.

Happy Birthday Kathy.

Thanks for stopping by.

New Birthday Buddy #2

On the side bar I list that I am a member of Live Love Cards. I have been a member for about 2 years. I learn so much from everyone in this card community. I signed up to share in the birthday club. When you sign up you are sent a list of everyone that has a birthday in the same month as yours. This second card I made for Gail. I am so encouraged to make new friends through our (all) card making community (communities).

This set is by far the most I use for feminine birthday cards. It is from Poppy Power. I think I purchased the background paper from Michael’s. The background paper seemed to overwhelm the card so I added a velum layer over top to soften it a bit. It was easy to adhere the vellum with the ribbon accent through the middle. I used Copics to color the image. I created the tag using a Tonic corner rounder. Ribbon is from Stamps of Life.

Happy Birthday Gail my new friend from Live Love Cards!

I would like to enter the following challenges:
Dragon Fly Dreams – use patterned paper
Kraftin Kimmie Stamps – Birthdays

Thanks for stopping by.

Live Love Cards, Stamplorations

New Birthday Buddy #1

On the side bar I list that I am a member of Live Love Cards. I have been for about 2 years. I learn so much from everyone in this card community. This year they started a birthday club. When you sign up you are sent a list of everyone that has a birthday in the same month as yours. So this is the first card that I sent to Lynda. I made a similar card here. This is always a fun card to make.

The stamp set and greeting are from Stamplorations. The word birthday is a sticker. Copic colors were used and I just added the hairlines on the leaves.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Allsorts New Beginnings (new birthday buddy)
Crafty Friends Birthday

Happy Birthday Lynda my new birthday buddy at Live Love Cards.

Thanks for stopping by.

Die Cut, Hero Arts, Live Love Cards, Mother's Day, My Favorite Things, Verve Stamps

Psalm 19:14 for Mother’s Day

I am continuing making cards for a local church for the Pastor to send Mother’s Day cards to single moms of the congregation. The inside of the card is stamped Thinking of You, Happy Mother’s Day.

P4150029Using Versamark the background was stamped using Lacy Background from MFT and heat embossed using white fine detail embossing powder.  Tim Holtz Distress inks were used to sponge creating a watercolor effect. Using an oval die the shape was cut into the center of the background panel (saved the cut piece for another project). Then using the Psalm 19:14 from Verve Stamps I stamped it onto heavy weight vellum, again using Versamark – this time heat embossed using silver fine detail powder. I cut the stamped vellum piece using the next oval size up (so I could adhere it onto the panel). I then spritzed the panel using ink sprays. Using watercolor cardstock, the butterflies were created with a Hero Arts stamp and die set (which I have had forever, but is one of my very favorites) and water colored with Distress Inks. The next one I make I will turn that bottom butterfly in the other direction. No foam was used to elevate the butterflies, but because the vellum sits behind the panel it makes the butterflies appear to be lifted.

I am linking this up at Live Love Cards for the April Challenge (butterflies).

Live Love Cards

A Shiny Challenge

Darlene over at Live Love Cards has put up a challenge this month for shiny/sparkly cards. Since I am still into creating fall cards I went with pumpkins. Shiny pumpkins you ask?  I used fine detail gold embossing powder and this is how it looks:

Live-Love-Cards-Sept-ShinyYou can’t tell but the bottom is also shiny. And here is how the bottom looks:

llc-sept-shine-bottomI watercolored the background, then using versa mark and the Misti stamped the images and heat embossed. Added the bow and off it went to a friend as a birthday card.
