Buttons, Mum’s the Word and A Sketch

Well after the last nor’easter we lost cable, internet and phone for five days. We had electric and were thankful for that — the bad part was it happened over the weekend and hubby was home (‘nough said).

The inspiration for today’s card comes from three challenges – Tuesday Throwdown’s challenge is use buttons, Try It on Tuesday’s challenge is Mum’s the Word, and Tuesday Morning Sketches uses this sketch:

Embossing Folder is from Darice, paper from stash, sentiment from Stamplorations (retired), button die is from Memory Box (I think they may be retired also).

Stencil Background

I have been a shipper for Send A Smile 4 Kids for the last two years. Knowing what the upcoming Holiday Season brings to my door, I needed to reorganize my spare bedroom to enable me to work more efficiently. I worked on moving things around to make space more accessible, discarding boxes, and labeling cards and files. Now I am ready to receive all the beautiful creations our card makers design.  These cards put smiles on the faces of the kids who have to spend time in the hospital due to serious illness.

After that I hit my craft room. My husband came home from work today, clutched his chest and said the Lord was calling him (ha-ha). He came home to my craft room cleaned, desk uncluttered, papers put away and floor vacuumed (I am very bad with that one).

After all that was accomplished, I finally needed to do something for me. You got it — had to create a card. The challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown this week is to use a stencil. Here is my card:

I used Holly Background Stencil (Stamplorations), then stamped MFT Music Background stamp on top of the stenciled panel. I added the border to the panel using DCWV Glitzy Pastels, and the sentiment is from MFT Seasonal Sentiments. The gems are from Hero Arts.

In addition to Tuesday Throwdown I would like to participate in the following challenges

Crafting With Friends – Anything Goes
Creative Fingers  – Anything Goes
Emerald City Crafts – Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend.

New Birthday Buddy #1

On the side bar I list that I am a member of Live Love Cards. I have been for about 2 years. I learn so much from everyone in this card community. This year they started a birthday club. When you sign up you are sent a list of everyone that has a birthday in the same month as yours. So this is the first card that I sent to Lynda. I made a similar card here. This is always a fun card to make.

The stamp set and greeting are from Stamplorations. The word birthday is a sticker. Copic colors were used and I just added the hairlines on the leaves.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Happy Birthday Lynda my new birthday buddy at Live Love Cards.

Vitamin Sea

Vacations are like a reset button mentally, physically and spiritually. We all need them. I am lucky enough to live an hour and a half from the beach. I love the smell of the ocean. I do not enjoy lying on the beach and I will only sit on the beach if I have a chair. But I love walking along the shoreline finding shells or going on the jetties and looking for sea life. The beach and ocean have many therapeutic qualities. Check out this article – Vitamin “Sea”: The Therapeutic & Sensory Benefits of Sun, Sand & Surf found on Get Well Maps blog.

I made this card with no recipient in mind. Words 2 Craft By Challenge this month are words about vacation.

To create the weathered board I learned it here. I stamped the image (Stamplorations) and masked it off and used pan pastels to create the sky/water; the birds are from GinaK Designs. I created the port hole using circle dies and Dazzle jewel dots. The ship’s wheel is from MFT and the sentimet is also from Stamplorations.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

YNS Challenge #46

I purchased stamps last month from Your Next Stamp (YNS). One of the sets is called Scribble Fun Set Two which caught my eye because I could use the stamps with  mixed media and Bible Journaling. When I received the set I was surprised how some of the stamps reminded me of flowers. So here is my card:

YNS-challenge-August-2016

The papers I used are from Stamps of Life and the ink is from My Favorite Things. I used the stem of the flower from a set from Stamplorations. Sentiment is from GinaK.

I am supporting and promoting the challenge over at YNS by entering this card. This challenge is a color or sketch challenge. I chose to do both.

As always thanks so much for stopping by.

Coloring on Kraft

This is my first attempt at coloring on kraft cardstock with Copic Markers.

Coloring-on-KraftTo create the background I used an old stamp from MFT and stamped it onto the kraft cardstock. The flowers are from Autumn Wishes (GinaK Design StampTV Kit). I heat embossed with white embossing powder then I used Y35 Y38 Y08 and YR68 to color in the images. The sentiment is from Stamplorations and the ink is Memento Tangelo. Chocolate Brown Cardstock.

This will get added to by stash for fall birthdays coming up.

I would like to support/promote Colour Crazy craft challenge and Patti’s Creations which both are anything goes.

Creative with Stamps #5 Geometric

Brand new challenge group for me Creative with Stamps. I stumbled upon this challenge group through the Stamplorations blog.

Creative-with-stamps-2The card is based on the old retiform technique. I cheated a bit. I made a stencil with acetate and the Geometric Abstract die plate from MFT. I used stamps from GinaK Designs. The frame is from SSS.

This card will be going to one of several friends who celebrate their birthday in the fall.

AAA Game #71 Blending

Clean and simple card making is something I have been trying lately so I am joining the AAA Challenge Blog  which require CAS cards. I found out about them through Justine Hovey’s You Tube channel. You have to check them out. They call the challenges games (love that).

So I got out the copics and started blending.

#PRAYFORPULSE

Dana Joy and her friend Tony have started a card drive for the survivors, family members and friends of the victims in Orlando. Here is the link to get you started. Thank you Dana and Tony for allowing us to use our cards to reach out to all those who mourn this horrible tragedy. Here are my first three cards. I will be making a few more over the weekend so I can mail them on Monday.

Fight Like A Girl

The challenge over at Words 2 Scrap By this month is to create a card supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know women who have struggled with this and several who lost the battle. I am fortunate enough at this time not to have to send this card to anyone.

Oct-2015-Fight-Like-a-Girl-

I have this sentiment from Stamplorations which I wanted to use and the Elizabeth Crafts outline sticker went well with the sentiment. I used acetate on the bottom of the card for interest and it also coordinated with the stripes in the shoe.  I colored the shoe with pencil and gel markers.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy this beautiful day (it is here in PA).
