Family, Stamps of Life

Congrats Syd

I have been practicing drapery folds on my cards. I wanted to make a fold that would fit on an A2 size card using 6×6 cardstock.

Sydney-Finsel-Graduation

This card is going to Sydney a wonderful girl we have seen grow into a kind, caring, loving and thoughtful young woman. She will be heading off to college next month. Congrats Syd!

Papers are from Stamps of Life; used gold embossing for the sentiment (Verve).

Thanks for stopping by.

Sing To The Lord

A very good friend and also my bible study buddy is going through a rough emotional time, grieving over not being able to see her granddaughters regularly. Her only child and his family live an eight hour drive, so they only get to see them three to four times a year. So I suggested she send them cards so they can keep them and the girls will be reminded of her and her husband when they look at them. They are eight and five. I am making her a bunch to have on hand. This is my first one.

Sing-to-the-LordThis sweet digital image is from Imagine That digis By Kris.  The papers are from Stamps of Life and so is the floral die cut border. I thought Psalm 96:1 was perfect with this image. I generated the verse on my computer and the enamel dots are from my stash.

Mother's Day, My Favorite Things, Our Daily Bread Designs, Stamps of Life

John 14:27

A local church  sends Mother’s Day cards to single mothers. This is my third year making cards. You have to incorporate a bible verse either on the front of the card or inside. I love Our Daily Bread Designs stamps to help achieve this requirement.

P4180014

This is the lavender version.

P4180016And this is the pink version

First I started by embossing the white background piece using a damask folder from Darice. The pink layer I used a lacy background stamp from MFT (it was a little much so I placed a vellum layer over it to soften a bit. I stamped the John 14:27 verse and cut out using a SB circle die and then used a Scalloped die embossing it with the same damask folder. The flowers are from Michael’s and the washi tape is from Stamps of Life. Around the corners of the sentiment layer I used Dazzles – another requirement is not too bulky for mailing purposes. I really like how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping by. Be Blessed.

Spotlight on Purple

The deadline for the challenge at Cards In Envy is tomorrow. I have been working on this card for two weeks — not because it is complicated but because why does life have to interrupt creativity? I am sure more than a few of you agree with me and know exactly where I am coming from. So this morning I decided to get this card done and here it is 4:00 PM and I am just now finishing it. I am a volunteer for SAS4KIDS and this card will be going to St. Christopher’s Hospital Philadelphia.

March-2016-Purple

So now you are probably laughing because I used a pre-colored digi! Why yes I did. This one is from Imagine That! digis by Kris. For the purple I used two shades of cardstock to showcase the purple boots and the dragonfly is from Hero Arts and I colored it yellow to coordinate with the yellow one in the boots (although I think it may be a little too big for the design — but oh well, if I change it now it will be Christmas before I get this finished). I also used MFT rectangles and the Sentiment is from Stamps of Life stamped in Versa Fine and clear embossed on vellum.

I will be linking this up to Imagine That! as well as Cards In Envy.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

My Favorite Things, Paper Smooches, Stamps of Life

Words 2 Scrap By #21

Jake and the Never Land Pirates is an animated cartoon on Disney Jr. (based on Peter Pan) that many young children enjoy. I have to admit I enjoy watching it when I have little ones around and the songs are catchy. It is a great learning tool for preschoolers, it teaches counting, problem solving, math, and most importantly good social skills (like how to be a good friend).

Ahoy Matey is the challenge this month at Words 2 Scrap By . So with the little ones in mind I created this card.

W2SB-Ahoy

This is a MFT Ahoy Matey stamp set. The papers are from Stamps of Life. I really held off on the whole shaker card thing, but once I tried the Fuse Tool, I was hooked. The image is colored with Copics and the bandana is paper pieced with the same red dotted paper used on the card. Paper Smooches dots and dashes die was used to create the dots along the image.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

Almost Fall

I use these two images every fall and they remind me of back to school, fresh cool air, leaves falling, pumpkins, shorter days. We have had two beautiful days here in the Philadelphia area. It has been cool enough to turn off the air conditioning and open up the windows. Sitting out on the back porch after dinner with a glass of wine has been very relaxing.

The digital images are from Sassy Cheryl’s Stamps. I love how she brings childrens images to life with her sassiness.

Autumn SwingThis sweet image is called Autumn Swing. I used Copic markers to color the image and the papers, ribbon, cardstock and sentiment are from Stamps of Life (Happiness Collection). Stitched circle is Die-namics from My Favorite Things.

Noah's Prize Winning Pumpkin

I couldn’t leave the boys out. Look at this cute little fella. This image is Noah’s Prize Winning Pumpkin. I colored him with copics as well. I added a little detail with a copic liner on the pumpkin which I learned over at The Daily Marker where Kathy encouraged us to practice “eyelashes” — tiny lines to add some more interest to an image.  Adding the lines really made the pumpkin pop. I also used a wood grain embossing folder on Kraft cardstock. The sentiment is an Elizabeth Crafts die.
