This week’s throwdown challenge is a color one. Red White and Blue for our heroes. The sample card is by Sybrina K who makes any hero cards for almost every challenge – all different – so I wasn’t surprised to find her sample on today’s blog post. She also hosts a monthly challenge at Words 2 Scrap By. It is always a fun challenge and both she and Bobbi have come up with some fun ideas.
In my previous post I made some of this same card in different colors and sentiments.
This week’s Midweek challenge is to make a card using the color teal. I found a stripe scrap with teal and kraft and went with it.
The background I stamped using Teal Zeal (Memento) onto MFT Kraft cardstock. The mat cardstock is Coordinations called Gulfstream. Used spellbinders scalloped circles and MFT pierced ovals for the die cuts. I don’t know where the ribbon or the stamp is from.
This week’s Midweek Throwdown theme over at Operation Write Home is to Let Your Light Shine and to use something in your card that is a light source or uses a sentiment with the word shine or light, etc. (I only have one sentiment stamp with the word shine). I am in need of some Any Hero cards for my box to be shipped mid March. Not having any light bulbs or sun or moon stamps or papers (and I am a little bit burned out with the whole sponging/brayering thing to make my own scenes), I really had to put my mind to work (eeh!). I do however have lots of birthday stamps including candles (umm oh yea candles are a light source).
Whose light doesn’t shine brighter than our heroes? I used candles because that is what I have as a light source. So here is my card.
Star stencil from My Favorite Things sponged with Tim Holtz Picket Fence distress paint is used as a background on the card base. The candle stamp is from a birthday set I purchased from AC Moore years ago and is colored with copics (basic basic coloring) and a gold gel pen was used for the flames so they would stand out and then glossy accents on top to make them shine. The sentiments are computer generated.
Thanks for stopping by and I love seeing all your creations — you encourage and inspire me!
With 12 to 14 inches of snow forecast for tonight I just keep thinking of sand and salt water and fishes and summer. I know in a few short months I’ll be complaining about the three H’s (hazy hot humid).
Today’s Midweek Throwdown Challenge (you can find here) at OWH is to make a punny card. I don’t really have any punny sentiments in stamps or in digital. I’ve been working on some summer type cards and had these stamps out ready to make some cards so this is what I used for today’s challenge. I believe these stamps are retired or the company is out of business. The first one is the funny card and the other two I posted just because I can (hehe).
