Watercolors

I keep trying the whole watercolor thing and I have to admit I really don’t enjoy it except when it comes out OK, which is not very often. Most of the time it is because I get muddied results. I’ve learned a few techniques watching videos. Wet the watercolor paper, don’t wet the watercolor paper, use a wet brush and wet the paper, it goes on and on. But just like everything in our craft, practice makes perfect.

The challenge this week over at Tuesday Throwdown is to use watercolors. Here is my card:

I used Distress Inks for the watercolor background, wilted violet, salty ocean, peacock feathers and pickled raspberry. Then using the same distress inks I water colored the yarn. The sentiment was embossed with fine detail silver embossing powder. The stamps are from Sugar Pea Designs. I fussy cut them and popped them up with foam for more interest. And I must say I DO LIKE how this turned out.

In addition to Tuesday Throwdown I would like to participate in the following challenge:

Lemon Shortbread Challenge – Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

  1. Watercolor isn’t my strongest talent but I do find the unexpected results to be fun. Your background is a lovely blend of colors, soft and muted, allowing those skeins to really pop. So happy you joined us on the Tuesday Throwdown challenge this week. Well done!
