Stencil Background

I have been a shipper for Send A Smile 4 Kids for the last two years. Knowing what the upcoming Holiday Season brings to my door, I needed to reorganize my spare bedroom to enable me to work more efficiently. I worked on moving things around to make space more accessible, discarding boxes, and labeling cards and files. Now I am ready to receive all the beautiful creations our card makers design.  These cards put smiles on the faces of the kids who have to spend time in the hospital due to serious illness.

After that I hit my craft room. My husband came home from work today, clutched his chest and said the Lord was calling him (ha-ha). He came home to my craft room cleaned, desk uncluttered, papers put away and floor vacuumed (I am very bad with that one).

After all that was accomplished, I finally needed to do something for me. You got it — had to create a card. The challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown this week is to use a stencil. Here is my card:

I used Holly Background Stencil (Stamplorations), then stamped MFT Music Background stamp on top of the stenciled panel. I added the border to the panel using DCWV Glitzy Pastels, and the sentiment is from MFT Seasonal Sentiments. The gems are from Hero Arts.

In addition to Tuesday Throwdown I would like to participate in the following challenges

Crafting With Friends – Anything Goes
Creative Fingers  – Anything Goes
Emerald City Crafts – Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend.

Card Making, My Favorite Things

Blowing In The Wind

Bob Dylan wrote and first recorded Blowin’ in the Wind in 1962. Peter, Paul and Mary recorded it and sold 300,000 copies in the first week. Joan Baez also recorded it. Back then it was considered the anthem of the Civil Rights Movement.  The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2004, the song was ranked #14 on Rolling Stone’s Most 500 Greatest Hits of all time. It is still current today (sad to say). It’s a song about how we can become apathetic to poverty, war, freedom and death.

The last verse is Yes, how many deaths will it take til he knows that too many people have died. The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind.

We all need to stand up and make our voices heard.  The gun laws here in the United States need to be changed. Who needs machine gun type weapons?? We are our own worse enemies. The answer my friends is NOT blowin’ in the wind, the answer is within all of us.

The current Cards In Envy challenge is Blowing in the Wind and here is my card:

I created the background first scoring those lines with my scoreboard and then used MFT Woodgrain background stamp. The large leaves are also from MFT, as well as the sentiment. The smaller leaves were created with a punch. I added the twine ribbon which was from my stash.

Hey, thanks for reading and stopping by.

Vitamin Sea

Vacations are like a reset button mentally, physically and spiritually. We all need them. I am lucky enough to live an hour and a half from the beach. I love the smell of the ocean. I do not enjoy lying on the beach and I will only sit on the beach if I have a chair. But I love walking along the shoreline finding shells or going on the jetties and looking for sea life. The beach and ocean have many therapeutic qualities. Check out this article – Vitamin “Sea”: The Therapeutic & Sensory Benefits of Sun, Sand & Surf found on Get Well Maps blog.

I made this card with no recipient in mind. Words 2 Craft By Challenge this month are words about vacation.

To create the weathered board I learned it here. I stamped the image (Stamplorations) and masked it off and used pan pastels to create the sky/water; the birds are from GinaK Designs. I created the port hole using circle dies and Dazzle jewel dots. The ship’s wheel is from MFT and the sentimet is also from Stamplorations.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Stamps of Life Donut

I cannot believe how long it has been since I’ve posted. Maybe because I haven’t had the time to make any cards. Well those days are over. I have my mojo back and it came when I received this month’s die hard club set called donut2stamp from Stamps of Life.

I used an ivory card base and MFT Blueprint 27 to create the window. I used a white gel pen to add the sprinkles. I am not sure where the paper is from but when I saw it in my stash I knew it went perfectly with the theme.

This card will be going to Send A Smile 4 Kids (current challenge is anything goes).

Bridal Shower For Bridgette

My beautiful niece Bridgette is getting married in July. Recently a bridal shower was held for her and here is the card I created.

I have had the Hero Arts Monthly Kit from February and barely used it but I broke it out for this card which I thought was perfect. This is my second Monthly Kit and I have to tell you what a great value it is. The umbrella I colored with copics and used glossy accents to give it some rainy shine. The sentiment was computer generated. The frame is a Die-Namics Blueprints 27.

I would like to promote and link up this card to the following challenges.

Little Red Wagon (April Showers); DL Art (April Showers)

Words 2 Craft By #38 Celebrations

There is another fun challenge over at Words 2 Craft By this month. The quote is from Mark Twain about Mardi Gras. I do love the colors of the celebration and I tried to incorporate them into my card. I love all the costumes (some outrageous). I used a stamp from Dylusions (Dyan Reavelry) and gold embossed it (one of the colors of Mardi Gras) and watercolored with distress inks. I die cut a bunch of little flowers to give her an amazing hat.

This was totally out of my comfort zone. But I loved every minute of how it took on its own flavor. Lots of sparkle and shine! The glitter paper is from DCWV and I also used Wink of Stella glitter markers on her lips and eyebrows.

Thanks so much for stopping by and Let the Good Times Roll!

Hocus Pocus

The current challenge over at Cards In Envy is Frame It. I have been making nothing but Halloween Cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids, so it didn’t take too long to gather my supplies as they are all out on my table. Sorry for the glare on the frame but it was the only way I could capture the shininess. Here is what I came up with:

hocus-pocus-b

All the papers used are from DCWV Spooky Night Mini Stack. The image is from Stampendous, colored with copics and the greeting is a sticker from my stash. Card base is MFT  Tangy Orange. Using the two largest dies from SSS stitched rectangles I cut the “frame”. I like how the frame looks like an elegant spooky picture frame you might find in a haunted house. I also sparkled up Witchy Poo (my name for her) using Wink of Stella.

This card will be included in the box of cards I send to St Christopher’s Hospital Philadelphia for SAS4KIDS.

Cards In Envy Square

The challenge over at Cards In Envy (CIE) is “Hip To Be Square” (if any of you are old enough, can you remember Huey Lewis and the News?).

My rose garden is blooming with the last roses and some of them are yellow. My marigolds, which only come in two colors gold and yellow, are just in their glorious stages right now. It is amazing when you plant one marigold plant in the spring and watch it for a few weeks, it looks as though it might not make it; but, as the air heats up and the afternoon rains come they grow into the most magnificent flowers. They will be rendering full colorful plants right up until Thanksgiving. Why am I rambling on about this? YELLOW. My take on the “Hip To Be Square” challenge:

cards-in-envy-squares-aug-2I embossed the square into my cardstock using two dies together (stitched square stacks from MFT), then stamped my image (GinaK Designs Year of Flowers 2) onto a separate square, colored with copics Y02 Y06 Y08 G21 and G24. The Happy Birthday greeting is from Your Next Stamp and ribbon from Stamps of Life. Mounted it on black cardstock.  Added a few black dots (to coordinate with ribbon) and called it a day.

YNS Challenge #46

I purchased stamps last month from Your Next Stamp (YNS). One of the sets is called Scribble Fun Set Two which caught my eye because I could use the stamps with  mixed media and Bible Journaling. When I received the set I was surprised how some of the stamps reminded me of flowers. So here is my card:

YNS-challenge-August-2016

The papers I used are from Stamps of Life and the ink is from My Favorite Things. I used the stem of the flower from a set from Stamplorations. Sentiment is from GinaK.

I am supporting and promoting the challenge over at YNS by entering this card. This challenge is a color or sketch challenge. I chose to do both.

As always thanks so much for stopping by.

Coloring on Kraft

This is my first attempt at coloring on kraft cardstock with Copic Markers.

Coloring-on-KraftTo create the background I used an old stamp from MFT and stamped it onto the kraft cardstock. The flowers are from Autumn Wishes (GinaK Design StampTV Kit). I heat embossed with white embossing powder then I used Y35 Y38 Y08 and YR68 to color in the images. The sentiment is from Stamplorations and the ink is Memento Tangelo. Chocolate Brown Cardstock.

This will get added to by stash for fall birthdays coming up.

I would like to support/promote Colour Crazy craft challenge and Patti’s Creations which both are anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by.
